The Astute Networks Edge Storage Architecture (ESFS) is a highly extensible software platform that provides a powerful suite of storage, virtualization, management, configuration, and diagnostic tools across all edge storage platforms.
At Astute Networks, our mantra is “Edge Storage Made Simple™.” Our product line is built on open standards and incorporates five “built-in” capabilities:
The Edge Storage Foundation Suite (ESFS) is vital for leveraging open standards and creating the deployment simplicity and ease of use required to meet the business, operational and capital expenditure needs of operators worldwide.

The Edge Storage Foundation Suite (ESFS) is an extensible storage and systems framework designed to provide a flexible suite of storage and system services including:
Storage Access – The ESFS provides for multiple storage access models for block and file access the include iSCSI today and will support NAS options including NFS, CIFS and more.
Security – Security is a paramount concern for storage systems and the ESFS utilizes iSCSI CHAP (Challenge-Handshake Authentication Protocol) authenticates a user and ensures only the right people are using the Caspian Edge Storage Blade.
High Availability (HA) Software – The ESFS has provisions for mirroring individual data sets, complete Caspian blades and supporting multi-path HA requirements. This is vital for providing QoS and other key service level agreements.
Single Systems Management – Astute Networks has developed a single systems management capability based on SNMP. Unlike most other storage solutions that requires multiple user and management interfaces, EFSF provide a single integrated management system for supporting the ATCA blade management and the supporting the advanced storage management needs.
ESFS Core Software – The core of the ESFS is our implementation of Carrier Grade Linux, TCP Offload, RAID Firmware and industry proven BIOS (Basic Input/Output System) technology for the highest levels of systems availability.
