The Caspian J1110 is an ATCA SAS JBOD that can act as a storage expansion blade for the Caspian R1100 Edge Storage Blade, or as standalone storage device for CPU blades with SAS Egress ports.

The Caspian J1110 provides on-demand scalability as it is needed by the application or by the customer. When connected to the Caspian R1100, the Caspian J1110 scales storage capacity via connections on the Update Channel with management and RAID functionality all provided by the base Caspian R1100 for a seamlessly deployed and managed on-demand storage solution.
Additional scalability can be achieved using SAS cables to connect additional Caspian J1110 Edge Storage Blades in the chassis. Further, the Caspian E1112 Edge Storage RTM complements the Caspian J1110 by providing 50% more capacity plus added connectivity to additional storage and CPU Blades.
As storage expansion for SAS-enabled CPU blades, the dual ported SAS architecture of the Caspian J1110 enables fully redundant configurations by combining two CPU blades with two or four Caspian J1110 blades in a mirrored configuration. With this architecture, both CPU blades can access all of the drives on the two Caspian J1110 blades (and the drives on the E1112 RTMs, which are also dual-ported).
Whether the Caspian J1110 is used for RAID or JBOD expansion storage, it supports SAS, SATA or Solid State Drives to meet a wide range of price/performance needs in Telecom, Media, Video Surveillance and Military applications.
Built on open standards, the Caspian J1110 has been designed to support the industry standards of SAS, Advanced TCA (PICMG), SNMP, CLI, SOAP API, and IPMI. This provides a solid design base and greatest flexibility for OEMs and NEPs to develop and deploy Edge Storage Architectures.
