Blade servers have made it possible for Telecoms, Media Providers, Military and other organizations to migrate their applications to the edge of the network. By putting services and content/data at the edge--close to subscribers and users--response time is improved, service delivery is enhanced, and system redundancy is facilitated. However, this edge strategy requires a new class of storage. Instead of complex, costly Fibre Channel rack mount solutions, what’s needed is bladed storage that delivers 10Gb performance, while being highly reliable/available and easily deployable. The Astute Networks Edge Storage Architecture (ESA) is composed of two core elements; the Caspian Edge Storage Hardware and the Edge Storage Foundation Suite (ESFS). The ESA is a highly extensible storage architecture that provides a powerful family of storage, virtualization, management, configuration, and diagnostic tools.
